It has been a high scoring opening to the fantasy football calendar. If that doesn’t get the pulses racing we don’t know what will! Did we expect Salah, Sterling, Kane, Aubameyang and Aguero ALL to score? Probably not, but we expect all managers to at least have 1 or 2 of these premium options, but there was also a few surprises. Let’s take a look…

Transfer or no transfer?

In my experience, it’s usually best to wait until game week 2 before making any rash decisions, as those are the actions of the novice. Having said that, if you have Allison it’s a bit of no-brainer. His value will only go down and you have Adrian waiting in the wings waiting to perform more heroics. This would save 1.4 million pounds (not real money).

Who to captain?

Out of the premium options keeping a cool head is the best idea. Don’t get carried away with Sterling’s outrageous antics and punt for Salah. He might be slightly fatigued but it is early season, he’s looking good and Liverpool will be well fancied against a Southampton side who shipped 3 to Burnley. Man City on the other hand will play Tottenham, making Kane and Sterling secondary picks. Other than these, Aubameyang looks quite a tasty proposition (not literally) as Arenal are playing Burnley at home.

On the watch list

Pukki – Looked good and even grabbed a goal against Liverpool with the scraps he was given. Norwich scored a ton in the Championship. While maintaining their attacking intent, back against these newcomers at your peril. More goals will come.

McGinn – Another to keep an eye on as confidence will be running high following a top class finish against a top class side. After a summer of spending there is no reason why Aston Villa can’t replicate the success of Wolves last season.
