Spieth falls apart on 18th only to be saved by a bounce and a putter

Spieth enters The Wyndham Championships slowly returning to form, hoping to put a disappointing year behind him in time for The Presidents Cup (should he be picked). All amateur golfers have an ugly miss, but it’s surprising to see a top professional like Jordan Spieth suffer the same problem, and that same old reaction that says, ‘How? Why? Not again! Fore!’ This happened on the 18th when only one shot off the lead he drove out of bounds, and it seemed to take the wind right out of his sails. If his putter wasn’t red hot he would have found himself way down an average field by PGA Tour standards. However, the optimist should also tell us that if he can cure these wayward, bemusing shots, he could be sitting pretty on the top of the world again some time soon!
